Jocelyn Morlock: Strange Loop
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Concerto No. 27 for Piano
Anton Bruckner: Symphony No. 4

Canadian piano legend Janina Fialkowska takes the stage for Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 27, his final piano concerto. Composed in a time of illness, debt, and fading public support, the piece speaks in a remarkably intimate voice. Its surface is poised and transparent, but beneath that simplicity lies a gentle sense of reflection: an opening that hints at unrest, a tender slow movement, and a finale that feels like a quiet, smiling farewell.

After intermission, the orchestra dives into Bruckner’s Symphony No. 4, “Romantic.” From soft horn calls and misty, sunrise atmospheres to big, glowing climaxes, it’s a long, satisfying journey through rich, full orchestra sound.

A colourful, uplifting program led by Otto Tausk also features a Canadian bonus to open the evening: Strange Loop by Winnipeg‑born composer Jocelyn Morlock, whose bright, shifting textures and gentle grooves, inspired by the idea of a musical “loop,” end in sounds that recall shimmering Balinese gamelan.
