The WSO is returning for a free concert at the Lyric Theatre in Assiniboine Park.

The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra performs a FREE concert at the Lyric Theatre in Assiniboine Park on Friday, July 4, at 7:00 pm. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for an evening of dramatic, romantic, and triumphant symphonic music with your WSO.

The 90-minute Friday evening concert, led by Assistant Conductor Monica Chen, features light classics, Broadway tunes, and movie scores. Enjoy selections from West Side Story and Les Misérables, as well as themes from James Bond movies. Imagine Bilbo’s adventures while listening to The Fellowship of the Ring Suite and then hum along to music from Wicked. And of course, the concert wouldn’t be complete without some music from the Harry Potter movies by John Williams.

The concert will also feature former Broadway star Andrea Macasaet, who premiered the role of Anne Boleyn in the Broadway production of Six: The Musical. Andrea was recently seen alongside the WSO in the Thorgy Thor production, where she wowed the audience with her vocals.

“Open-air concerts are a wonderful, fun and relaxing way for everyone to experience the orchestra, says Chen. “There certainly will be something for everyone – both regular symphony goers and newcomers to orchestral music.”
