Symphonic Speedrun
Dates
Wed Feb 17 2027, 7:30 pm
Venue
Centennial Concert Hall
Games, orchestra, and remarkable skill collide in this high-energy concert led by Evan Mitchell. Music from fan favourite titles like Undertale, Final Fantasy, and Mega Man, brings the drama and emotion of gaming soundtracks onto the symphonic stage.
At the centre of the night is a live orchestral speedrun of the indie hit Celeste. A speedrunner – here, yujene – is a gamer who trains to finish a game as fast and clean as possible, squeezing every shortcut and trick out of each level. yujene will race through Celeste in real time as the gameplay is projected above the orchestra.
Every jump, dash, and close call is matched live by the musicians, who perform the score in sync with the action on screen. It’s a high wire collaboration that feels part concert, part live esports match. Fast paced, immersive, and unlike anything else you’ve seen in a concert hall.
