Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to sit in the orchestra?
Last season, audiences were blown away by From the Inside Out — a unique 360° onstage experience that puts you right in the heart of the orchestra. Well, it’s back this season!
Sit among the WSO musicians as they perform a specially crafted program by former WSO Associate Conductor Julian Pellicano.
Experience bite-sized excerpts from Richard Wagner’s epic Ring Cycle — a monumental collection of four operas inspired by Norse mythology, filled with gods, heroes, and some of the most thrilling music ever written. You may recognize Ride of the Valkyries from the movie Apocalypse Now (1979) and classic Looney Tunes cartoons. (Fun fact: the music for the complete cycle runs over 15 hours!)
You’ll also enjoy George Frideric Handel’s grand and festive Music for the Royal Fireworks — a jubilant suite originally composed for King George II to celebrate the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle in 1749. It was literally performed outdoors with fireworks! You may have heard this piece in films, commercials, and royal events.
Carl Maria von Weber’s Overture to the opera Der Freischütz (The Marksman) is a dark and dramatic work that sets the stage for the opera’s supernatural tale. The story follows a young marksman who makes a dangerous pact with the devil to win a shooting contest and marry the woman he loves.
Observe Julian’s connection with the orchestra up close, witnessing the silent communication, subtle shifts in tempo, and responsiveness required to perform these fantastic pieces!
