Celebrate bold, brilliant sound in this afternoon performance as the orchestra welcomes the internationally renowned Canadian Brass, led by Daniel Raiskin.
For over four decades, Canadian Brass has toured the world with their trademark mix of virtuosity, humour, and crowd-pleasing repertoire. In this special collaboration, their renowned quintet sound meets the full complement of the orchestra, turning favourites into something bigger, brighter, and full of personality.
The program includes classic Canadian Brass hits along with music from their recent Canadiana project, featuring arrangements inspired by iconic Canadian artists such as Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen. Expect familiar tunes, fresh twists, and plenty of musical surprises.
Adding to the occasion is a homecoming for Keith Dyrda, Canadian Brass member and former WSO musician, returning to share the stage with his old section colleagues. With moments that spotlight each group on its own and together, this afternoon performance is a spirited celebration of Canadian talent.
