Sistema Events

What have we been up to for the 2021-22 school year?

Term 2 began in January, and while adapting and maneuvering through the 4th wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, Sistema saw a safe and healthy return for both staff and students in the program. We also welcomed Leah Ross as a new Divisional Teacher for Sistema Winnipeg in Winnipeg School Division.

In December students performed for the virtual Tannis M. Richardson Winter Concert. Tannis M. Richardson is an on-going supporter of the program, and established the Sistema Endowment Fund along with Michael Nozick. We name this concert in her honor for her continuous support and belief in Sistema Winnipeg. This concert was held virtually on YouTube and you can expect to see a performance clip from the concert very soon!

Keisha is currently interning with Education & Sistema Manager, Jeffrey Acosta working on their interest in Arts Administration with a focus on Sistema Winnipeg! Her internship began November 2021 and she has been a wonderful addition to the administration team.

As Sistema continues to mature and grow, more and more of the students are reaching high school age and wanting to stay connected and contribute to the program in different ways. Keisha Giesbrecht is a Sistema student attending Maples MET school, which focuses more on each student’s individual passions and areas of interest and allows opportunities for work-place experience through internships.

We welcomed many new students to the program both on strings, woodwinds, and brass instruments! Sistema Winnipeg welcomed back many existing teachers and administrative staff, and also welcomed several new faces to the team of educators and teaching artists to work with the growing numbers of students.
