  • News

Hoosli Ukrainian Male Chorus is marking its 55th anniversary with a special performance. The chorus is performing alongside the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra for its Symphony in the City concert series on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 7:30 pm, at the Desautels Concert Hall, University of Manitoba.

Under the direction of Tadeusz Biernacki, the one-hour show will feature well known and cherished traditional Ukrainian folk songs, with accompaniment from the WSO. Click here to get tickets for 55 years of Hoosli.

For 55 years, the Hoosli Ukrainian Male Chorus has been sharing their passion for Ukrainian spirit and song. What started out as the St. Vladimir’s College Alumni Choir in 1969, has now grown into an internationally recognized male choral group.

Since then, over 200 men have poured their hearts and soul into the choir and captured the attention of audiences within Winnipeg’s Ukrainian community and well beyond with their majestic four-part harmonies and lively performances.

“Hoosli is thrilled to announce its 55th anniversary celebration,” says Christopher Sklepowich, Chair of Hoosli’s Board of Directors. “There is nothing better than having two highly-respected and accomplished artistic groups performing music with such passion and importance at the highest levels of professionalism,” he says.

Hoosli has performed all over North America, recorded 10 albums, and continues to inspire audiences with its lively performances.

Sklepowich says the choir is very much looking forward to performing alongside the WSO once again, after the groups successful 50th anniversary show in December 2019. “Our last collaboration was extremely rewarding, and we look forward to capturing that magic once again,” he says.
