Remembering Shirley Loewen

It is with immense sadness that we’ve learned of the passing of Mrs. Shirley Loewen on June 22.

A prominent figure in Winnipeg’s arts community, Mrs. Loewen’s love of music led her to work for many years as chair of the Women’s Committee of the WSO. In her later years, she managed the WH and SE Loewen Foundation, quietly sponsoring many individual artists, arts and social service organizations–often listing the contributions as anonymous.

In lieu of flowers her family has asked that a donation be made to the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra or the St. Norbert Arts Centre. We send our most sincere condolences to her husband Mr. William Loewen, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family. Her unending enthusiasm, support and love of the arts will be dearly missed.
