Manitoba Remembers: A COVID Elegy
This past spring, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, with the support of donors and sponsors, put together an extraordinary event dedicated to those we have lost during this ongoing pandemic. It was also a thank you to all the front-line workers who sacrificed everything to continue providing much-needed services, and those who continue to fight this battle.
In this month of remembrance, we are overjoyed to be able to re-broadcast Manitoba Remembers: A COVID Elegy, for free, for anyone who’d like to watch it on MY WSO TV.
Available for streaming November 9 – 30, 2022 in Canada only. No Purchase or subscription necessary. You do not need to pre-book, reserve or sign in to watch this event.
NOTE: A hard copy commemorative program book for this event is available free of charge at the WSO box office. For more information email boxoffice@wso.mb.ca or call (204) 949-3999.
Manitoba Remembers: A COVID Elegy
An elegy is a poem, or a lament for that which has been lost.
Reflected through music, stories and images, the Manitoba Remembers event explores the profound impacts of the COVID pandemic on families, communities and ways of life across our province.
We honour the contributions of those who tirelessly served at the height of the pandemic, acknowledging the pandemic’s impact and reflecting on the loss of many kinds, such as loss of life, livelihood, dignity and social connection. Thanks to donors, over 300 health-care workers from across the province have been invited to attend the live event at the Centennial Concert Hall.
Too often words can feel inadequate to express the multitude of emotions that loss brings. Through the healing power of music, we commemorate and honour our shared experience of loss while also looking forward with hope.
