Taras Pivniak

I’m Taras Pivniak, an experienced double bassist with two decades of professional orchestral expertise. Originally from Ukraine, my musical journey has taken me across the globe, performing on stages in Japan, China, the USA, Azerbaijan, and numerous European countries and Canada.
Having shared the stage with world-renowned soloists like Luciano Pavarotti, Montserrat Caballé, and Andrea Bocelli, I’ve honed my skills and musical sensibilities. My career highlights include playing with the Poltava Symphony Orchestra, the Poltava Chamber Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, and the State Symphony Orchestra of Azerbaijan. I also had the privilege of being a part of the National President’s Orchestra of Ukraine as Principal Double bassist and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine.

Now based in Winnipeg, I’m excited to join the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and contribute my diverse experiences to the vibrant musical community here.

Beyond orchestral performances, I find immense joy in teaching at Sistema Winnipeg. Also, I channel my creativity into composing and arranging music for symphony orchestras and various ensemble types.
