Sean Taubner

A native of Winnipeg, Sean Taubner has been an active performer across Canada, the USA, and Japan. He received a Bachelor of Music Performance from the University of Manitoba under Paul Marleyn and Yuri Hooker, and a Master of Music Performance on scholarship from the University of Wisconsin-Madison under Uri Vardi.

Previous to joining the WSO, he has been a member of the Madison Symphony Orchestra, the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra in Iowa, and the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra in Japan. He has also been a member of such music festivals as the National Youth Orchestra of Canada (Kingston, ON), L’orchestre de la francophonie (Montreal, QC), Spoleto USA (Charleston, SC), National Academy Orchestra (Hamilton, ON), and Pacific Music Festival (Sapporo, Japan). While in Madison, he performed extensive music outreach education as a member of the Hunt String Quartet, made up of other graduate student scholarship holders.

His solo activities include recitals in his hometown of Winnipeg and representing Manitoba in the National Music Festival in 2002.
