Maples Collegiate Chamber Choir
The Maples Collegiate Chamber Choir is an auditioned ensemble of 28 students in grades 10, 11, and 12 who are passionate about making beautiful choral music. There are seven choirs at the school, and the core values of the choral program are summarized by UPGRADE: Unity, Passion, Growth, Responsibility, Acceptance, Dedication, and Excellence. Over the years for the Chamber Choir, earned performance and award highlights include the Earl Grey Trophy from the Winnipeg Music Festival, annual recommendations to MusicFest Canada, Showcase Concerts at the Canadian Rocky Mountain Festival in Banff, and the 2019 national choral award, the Paul Bourret Award, for the best overall performance by a choir. The students enjoy the artistry of choral music and creating choral art in the community. Through fun rehearsal and performance times, and by keeping Music in front of them and above them, Music is guiding the students to grow and mature and become better versions of themselves. The Maples Collegiate choir teachers are Philip Lapatha and Cynthia Peyson Wahl.
