Magdaragat Philippines

Magdaragat Philippines Inc. is a non-profit Filipino cultural organization in Manitoba dedicated to the promotion of Philippine culture through dance, song and drama. Founded in 1976 by Dante C. Buenaventura, Magdaragat is a Filipino word meaning, “Voyagers of the Seas, or sea-farers.” We are host to the Pearl of the Orient Philippine Pavilion during Folklorama in August.

The Children’s Theatre Company (CTC) was founded in 1983. The Magdaragat CTC was the first and only children’s theatre company in the Philippine community. Presently, there are 77 members who undertake cultural studies, creative movement and folk dance at the beginner’s level. They start at the tender age of 5-11 years of age.
