Ken MacDonald
Ken MacDonald has served as associate principal horn with the WSO since 2001. He has also appeared as first horn with the Hamilton Philharmonic, Vancouver Opera Orchestra, and Symphony Nova Scotia. His most recent recording, Festival Winds Live at the Festival of the Sound, was released in September and is available on iTunes. As a member of Octagon Chamber Ensemble, he has appeared at most of Canada’s major chamber music series, with another national tour planned for next year.
Ken is originally from Vancouver and attended the University of British Columbia. He is on faculty at the University of Manitoba where he teaches horn and chamber music. Ken is enthusiastic about the WSO’s extensive outreach activities. He has traveled to remote communities and reserves throughout Manitoba as a teaching artist in the Music Alive Program, a joint venture between the WSO and the National Arts Centre Orchestra.
