James Page
James Page was professionally trained at the Nanjing Arts Institute, a top music school in Jiangsu, China, where he studied Chinese bamboo flute and piano. After his training, James performed with his band and hosted events throughout China. He has also performed and lived in the United States, Japan, and Singapore. He has now lived in Winnipeg since 2013.
The year James Page arrived in Canada, he performed at the Folklorama Chinese Pavilion and was interviewed by Shaw TV. In 2014 he joined again as a coordinator and general Director for the Folklorama Chinese Pavilion. The same year James was nominated for the RBC on The Rise Award and became a member of the Board of Directors for the Manitoba Conservatory of Music and Arts (MCMA). Soon after that James was invited to be the Art Director and Stage Manager for Manitoba Great Wall Performing Arts, and Choral Director for the Winnipeg Han Feng (Chinese) Choir. Now James is also the Choral Director for the Winnipeg Voice of Love (Chinese) Choir. James has worked for Louis Riel School Division and Winnipeg School Division international student programs and now works at International College of Manitoba.
After living in Winnipeg for a few years, James realized that there is a lack of music events in the Chinese community. Therefore, he started hosting and producing his own music events including an annual Chinese singing competition and a series of Chinese pop music concerts. To build bridges between Chinese newcomers and the local Winnipeg community and help newcomers make the most of life here, he has also started to plan and organize lots of different kinds of events for the Chinese community in Winnipeg. Hosting this event is a great chance to help the Chinese community to experience more of what Winnipeg has to offer through the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra!
