Fan En-Chiang
2020 Aikins Memorial Trophy winner Fan-En Chiang was born in Tauchung, Taiwan. He is currently at the Desautels Faculty of Music at the University of Manitoba. As a composer, Fan-En has written for solo piano, string quartet, brass quintet and various duets featuring different combinations of instruments.
Most recently, the 22-year-old pianist and composer was a top prize winner in the Canadian Music Competition National Finals (2nd prize) and the Manitoba Registered Music Teachers Association Provincial Scholarship Competition (1st Prize). He was also the winner of the Lieutenant Governor’s Trophy (2016)
Fan-En has a wide range of appreciation for a variety of genres of music. His inspiration comes from many sources, including music from the romantic era, jazz, baroque, classical, 20th century periods, and even Japanese film and video game soundtracks.
