Eric Timperman

Eric Timperman is a native of Dayton, Ohio, where he started the bass in his public school’s orchestra program.  He is a recent graduate of the Yale School of Music, and also holds undergraduate degrees in Music and Psychology from Indiana University.  Eric was previously Assistant Principal Bass of the Carmel Symphony Orchestra in Indiana, and has performed as a guest musician with numerous ensembles including the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and A Far Cry, a Grammy-nominated, conductor-less string orchestra based in Boston, Massachusetts.

Festival appearances include fellowships at the Aspen and Texas Music Festivals, as well as playing Assistant Principal Bass with the Britten-Pears Orchestra as part of the Aldeburgh Festival in Suffolk, United Kingdom.  He is also a published psychological researcher, with work recently featured in the popular Performance Psychology blog, Bulletproof Musician.  His primary teachers were Bruce Bransby, former principal bass of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Don Palma, founding member of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra.
