Assistant Principal

Andrew Goodlett is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana, where he started the double bass at the age of 17. His first teacher was his father Robert Goodlett, assistant principal double bass of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. He studied with Lawrence Hurst at Indiana University while a senior in high school, Jack Budrow and Rodney Whitaker at Michigan State University, and Peter Lloyd and Andy Raciti at Northwestern University.

He has performed with many different groups including the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and as part of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s contemporary music series.

Outside of the orchestra Andrew loves to play other types of music including music on historically informed instruments, jazz and good old fashioned rock ‘n’ roll. He is also embracing being newly Canadian and has taken up fly fishing, hockey and cross country skiing.
