Welcome to the WSO @ Home Friday Matinee Recital Series! Join us every second Friday starting Friday, May 8 for a live mini recital performance by WSO musicians – right in their homes and studios!

June 5, 12:30 pm | Karl Stobbe

Karl Stobbe is recognized as one of Canada’s most accomplished violinists. As the associate concertmaster for the WSO, soloist, and chamber musician, Karl has been an audience favorite in small settings and large venues. His diverse career has included performances of all six Ysaÿe Sonatas for Solo Violin, all 16 Beethoven String Quartets, and all ten Mahler Symphonies. Over the course of the pandemic, Karl has taken on a wonderful project recording live all six of Bach’s Partitas and Sonatas for unaccompanied violin on his Youtube channel. We’ll be treated to Bach’s Sonata No. 3 in C Major for Unaccompanied Violin by Bach.

WSO Concertmaster Gwen Hoebig is surrounded by music at home. Her husband Dr. David Moroz is a graduate of the Julliard School. As a solo pianist he has performed in every major Canadian city, and as a collaborative artist he appears regularly in recital with Canada’s most distinguished musicians. Their two children are also well on their way to distinguished musical careers. Juliana Moroz is an award-winning cellist and Alexander Moroz is an award-winning violist. Join the incredibly talented family for a wonderful afternoon of music.
