A compact and comprehensive symphony experience, whether in-person or virtual.
EXPERIENCE THE FULL WSO, AND GET INTO THE MUSIC WITH A LESSON PLAN DESIGNED FOR BAND STUDENTS.
Matinee rehearsals bring students directly into the Classics concert preparation experience with a compact and comprehensive symphony experience at an accessible price. Students have the opportunity to learn more about the orchestra and the work being rehearsed with their teacher through a comprehensive lesson plan and a pre-rehearsal chat. They will then experience an introduction to the work from the conductor followed by a full performance. The experience concludes with an onstage Q&A with the conductor. All of this in 100-minutes!
Please note this series is a working rehearsal. Audiences may not hear the the complete work. Rehearsals do not include guest soloists.
Comprehensive lesson plans created for the repertoire on each matinee provides teachers the tools to introduce students to the repertoire. Lesson plans are prepared by music educator Cheryl Ferguson and many include theme sheets and/or excerpts.
Head to the Piano Nobile level for a Pre-Rehearsal chat to learn more about the music you will hear.
Post-Concert Q&A with the Conductor
The conductor will return to the stage immediately following the performance to answer questions that the audience has submitted in advance. Check your pre-rehearsal e-mail (sent a day or two in advance) for instructions on how to do this!
