Holst: The PlanetsFri, Mar 29, 2019 at 10:30 AM
Not only will you hear Gustav Holst’s vivid and brilliantly inventive score (that inspired the music for Star Wars, no less), but you will see actual NASA images specially chosen by guest host astronomer José Francisco Salgado on the screen as the music unfolds. A truly unique way to experience one of the most colourful showpieces from the last century. As an added bonus, the WSO will perform Canadian composer John Estacio’s brilliant Solaris, written specifically as an overture to Holst’s The Planets suite, Solaris attempts to capture the essence of the sun.
