Beauty of tone and brilliance of attack, Labadie draws spry and energised playing from his musicians. – The Guardian
…especially wondrous in the elegant performance by the superb Les Violons du Roy… – The New York Times
Based in Quebec City, Les Violons du Roy is one of the world’s top ensembles specializing in Baroque and Classical repertoire. Regular guests at festivals around the world, Les Violons visit Winnipeg with an exciting Mozart-themed program.
The brilliant music of Joseph Kraus, often referred to as the Swedish Mozart, opens the concert. French pianist Alexandre Tharaud, perhaps best known for his performance in Michael Haneke’s film Amour, joins Les Violons for the Mozart ‘Jeunehomme’ Piano Concerto. The second half is dedicated completely to Mozart’s “Great” G minor Symphony, one of only two he wrote in a minor key.
