Meredith McCallum, originally from Fergus, Ontario, joined the WSO in 2011 after two seasons as assistant concertmaster of the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra.
After completing a Bachelor of Music degree at McGill University under the tutelage of Denise Lupien, Meredith earned a Master’s degree in violin performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Ian Swensen and Bettina Mussumeli. Other principal teachers include Jerzy Kaplanek of the Penderecki Quartet, Mark Fewer, and Paule Barsalou.
Meredith has appeared with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, New World Symphony, Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony and the Charlottetown Festival Orchestra. She has also played with the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra in Germany, toured Japan and Hong Kong with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, and served as a member of the quartet-in-residence for the Strings in the Mountains Festival in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
