Margaret Askeland

Margaret Askeland was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota. There she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in music at the University of Minnesota, Duluth branch, then continued on to Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois where she earned her Master of Music degree. She has played in the WSO since September of 1974 and recently retired from the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra of which she has been a member since 1979. She has performed at Carnegie Hall with the WSO in 1979 and is thrilled to be returning to the venue this year with the same group. Over the years she has had the opportunity to perform in many instrumental groups. In recent years, her summers have included performing in quartets at numerous weddings and working for landscapers. Now that her two daughters are grown, she is able to pursue her other interests, which include golfing, cycling, walking, gardening and reading.
