Julia McIntyre studied the bass trombone with Murray Crewe, Doug Sparkes and Gordon Sweeney. In 1992 she began her Bachelor’s of Music in Performance at the University of Toronto, and in 1995 won the bass trombone position with l’Orchestre Symphonique de Quebec. In 2003 Julia won the principal bass trombone chair with the WSO. She has also performed with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, the National Arts Centre Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and the Montréal Symphony Orchestra. Julia is a member of Monarch Brass, and the Quanta Trombone Quartet, and has performed as a soloist at the International Women’s Brass Conference and the Eastern Trombone Workshop.
