Chris Lee is the principal tuba of the WSO and Instructor of Tuba at the University of Manitoba. A graduate of both McGill and Indiana University, Chris has appeared as soloist with the WSO numerous times, including the premier performance of the Victor Davies Concerto for Tubameister. Formerly the principal tuba of
the Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia (Spain) and Professor of Tuba at ESMAE School of Music
in Porto (Portugal), he has performed with the Indianapolis and Tenerife Symphonies and toured North and South America with the Verbier Festival Youth Orchestra under James Levine.
An avid chamber musician, Chris performs with University of Manitoba Faculty Brass Quintet, the Forest Festival Brass Quintet and the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra. He has recorded with the Winnipeg and Montréal Symphony Orchestras, the Real Philharmonic de Galicia, the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, and the Canadian Brass. Chris enjoys playing basketball and chess in his spare time.
