• It’s the start of Beethoven 250!
• Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony was a truly revolutionary work. Nobody had ever written a piece so long before and it took the world of the orchestra to a whole new planet.
• Beethoven initially wrote this piece for Napoleon Bonaparte, but eventually scratched his name off of it and renamed it to “Eroica”, or, “The Hero”. This marked the beginning of Beethoven’s “middle period”.
• If you know and like Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, which we are performing in April, you will probably like this piece.
