Alex Adaman

Alex Adaman is originally from Caracas, Venezuela. He received early training in cello performance from the Royal Conservatory in Toronto and advanced studies at the University of Toronto and Indiana University at Bloomington. He attended summer sessions at the AFM Congress of Strings, the Banff Centre and the Aspen Festival. He holds a Bachelor degree from Queens University at Kingston and a Master’s from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, Long Island.

Between 1967 and 1974, he performed as full time principal cellist with both the O’Keefe Centre Theatre orchestra in Toronto and the National Ballet of Canada. Other orchestral experience includes the National Arts Centre, Hamilton, Kingston, Saskatoon, Regina and one season as principal cellist with the Thunder Bay Symphony.

He was a sabbatical replacement teaching cello and theory at Brandon University School of Music for one year. Over ten years he regularly performed at the Winnipeg Art Gallery Aurora Musicale chamber music series. He joined the WSO in 1984 and the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra in 1986.
