Marketing & Communications Coordinator

The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra’s mission is to provide exceptional musical experiences for Manitobans and is currently looking for a passionate, energetic and creative individual to join our team as Marketing & Communications Coordinator.

 

The WSO is actively engaged in developing classical, Pops, Kids and Movie concert series, education and outreach initiatives, the Winnipeg New Music Festival and other community events. Reporting to the VP, Marketing & Communications, the successful candidate’s primary goal is coordinating marketing and communications activities to help accomplish the WSO’s mission and achieve long-term goals.

 

Key responsibilities: write and distribute media releases, pitch and coordinate interviews and build on positive relationships with media outlets; communicate with community groups and guest artists/agents; writing, editing and developing the season guide, programs and marketing material; develop, manage and promote content on the WSO’s social media channels and websites; write and distribute email campaigns; develop and manage media events; assist in developing marketing plans and timelines.

 

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a university degree in marketing or communications or Creative Communications diploma and two to five (2-5) years’ experience in a marketing and communications position. They must possess superior written, oral and organizational skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Office, strong social media skills, and experience working with email marketing and website development programs. Working knowledge of graphic design (Adobe Creative Suite) and new media (audio and video) programs is also considered an asset.

 

The candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, have exceptional entrepreneurial and interpersonal skills, great problem-solving skills, creativity, and a genuine love and enthusiasm for arts and symphonic music.

 

Occasional evening and weekend work required.

International auditions will be held on Saturday April 18, 2020 starting 9:30 AM at the Centennial Concert Hall in Winnipeg. The deadline for application is Friday April 10, 2020.

CONTRACT DURATION: 38 weeks minimum (three weeks of vacation included)

SALARY: $43, 505 minimum

BENEFITS: Musicians Pension Fund of Canada 10%, Group Life Insurance, Extended Health Care, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Dental Plan.
